An increasing number of countries are requiring psychological evaluation reports in order to adopt internationally. This process can feel anxiety provoking, lengthy and frustrating. In addition to being an adoption professional, I am an adult adoptee and adoptive parent so that can be a relief to prospective parents to know I understand the steps and process you are being asked to go through. I have completed over 50 psychological evaluations for 6 different countries (Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, El Salvador and Colombia).
As both an adoption social worker and clinical psychologist, I am very experienced in working with numerous adoption agencies and provide thorough, professional, prompt, and culturally sensitive reports. Additionally, I am able to help better prepare parents for potential parenting challenges, questions, and concerns.
I have done extensive research on racial identity in adoption and red flags in adoption. During your interview, I spend time helping address parenting issues such as transitioning, attachment issues, commonly experienced adoption scenarios, grief and loss, culture, expectations of your child, and goodness of fit.
Testing and interviews are conducted on the weekends and I provide a draft of your psychological evaluation report within 2 weeks of your testing date.
